こんにちは。ウェイン・バクスターです。イギリス出身です。
2004年から日本に住み、1歳から社会人までの多くの方に、英語を教えています。
現在、巣鴨・駒込にあるもみじ幼稚園で、子どもたちに英語を教えています。歌やゲーム、会話を取り入れながら、幼稚園から小学校までの子どもたちが英語の楽しさを自然に感じられるようなレッスンを行っています。
また、東京都清瀬市内のコミュニティプラザひまわりをはじめとする地域施設では、さまざまな英会話クラスを担当しています。
親子クラスから小学生・中学生・高校生、そして大人まで、幅広い年齢層の生徒に英語を教えています。
1歳のお子さまから大人の方まで、それぞれの年齢やレベル、目的に合わせたレッスンを行っています。
地域に密着した環境で開講しており、清瀬市・東久留米市・所沢市など、近隣エリアから多くの方にご参加いただいています。
さらに、2026年4月からは南青山のカルチャーサロン「Glossé 艶」にて、大人向けの英会話クラスもスタートします。リラックスしたフレンドリーな雰囲気の中で、大人の方が英語でのコミュニケーションを楽しく身につけられるクラスにしたいと考えています。
私は、英語は楽しく前向きに学ぶことが何より大切だと考えています。英語を学ぶことが「勉強」だけで終わるのではなく、英語で人とつながる喜びや、自分の世界が広がる楽しさを感じてもらいたいと思っています。
生徒のみなさんが自信を持ち、やる気を持って、日常の中で英語を使うことを楽しめるようサポートすることが、私の目標です。
「レッスンに行くのが楽しみ」と思ってもらえることが、私にとって何より嬉しいことです。
教室の外では、自分のことをとてもアクティブな人間だと思っています。時間があるときは、関東の美しい山々でハイキングを楽しんでいます。友人たちと行くこともあれば、10代の子どもたちと一緒に行くこともあります。ときにはガイド付きハイキングを企画したこともあり、人と交流しながら自然を楽しめるとても良い機会だと感じています。
また、時間があるときにはサッカーをするのも大好きです。そして食べ物なら、日本食はどれも大好きですが、やはり一番のお気に入りは焼き鳥です。長いハイキングのあとに飲む冷たいビールと一緒なら、なお最高です！
旅行も私の大きな情熱のひとつで、これまでに30か国以上を訪れてきました。20代の頃には、東南アジアとオーストラリアを2年間旅し、さらにアフリカも6か月かけて旅しました。こうした経験を通して、さまざまな文化への理解が深まり、国境を越えて人とつながる「コミュニケーションの力」の大切さを実感しました。
これから出会うみなさんと一緒に、楽しく、前向きに、英語の世界を広げていけることを楽しみにしています。
【英語の自己紹介】
Hello! My name is Wayne Baxter, and I'm from England in the UK.
I've been living and teaching English in Japan since 2004. I teach people of all ages from toddlers to adults. My youngest student is one year old. Every week I visit nurseries and kindergartens around Tokyo as well as teaching in my afternoon and evening classes.
I love teaching English and I have a real passion and energy for it that is evident in my classes.
I think that learning English should be an enjoyable activity, and so I endeavour to make all of my lessons fun. I want my students to have a positive experience that will inspire them to keep improving so that they can experience the pleasure of being able to communicate in English.
If my students look forward to coming to my classes, then I'm very happy.
Outside the classroom, I consider myself a very active person. In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the beautiful mountains of the Kanto region. I often go hiking with friends, and sometimes with my teenage children too. On occasion, I’ve even led guided hikes, which is a great way to socialize and enjoy nature together.
I also love playing soccer whenever I get the chance. And when it comes to food, I enjoy many kinds of Japanese cuisine — but my favourite has to be yakitori, preferably with a cold beer after a long hike!
Travelling is another big passion of mine, and I have visited over 30 countries. In my twenties, I spent two years travelling around Southeast Asia and Australia, and I also travelled in Africa for six months. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures and for the power of communication across borders.
